The time I got reincarnated as a slime is a web novel that was published by "Fuse" in 2013. The web novel was able to be published officially as a light novel in 2014 and from there the story was adpated into manga, anime and even game format. The time I got reincarnated as a slime is most known as the anime with three seasons and a movie. It also has a slice of life spin off and a multitude of specials. This story has had massive success in Japan as well as internationally.

Without spoiling the story the premise of the story is as follows: Satoru Mikami was as ordinary as they come. A 37 year old corporate worker based in Tokyo. If not for his lack of girlfriend Mikami would consider his life to be content. During a meeting with a close work colleague an assailant stabs Mikami and causes him to bleed out on the street. With his conciousness fading away he simoultanesly agaonized over his death and reminisces on his life. This unfocused string of conversation ends up being in response to a mysterious voice and as Mikami passes away to the next life the voice bestows gifts based on his answers.

After regaining conciouness, Satoru realizes he's been reincarnated as a slime. After spending a long time in the cave getting acculumated with the unfamilar world he has fell in he crosses path with a impactful figure that bestows him the name "Rimuru". From there Rimuru sets out to discover the world he now lives in.
